The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MOFDP) has given NET-TECH (Pty) Ltd, doing business as Mapota Technologies, a three-year contract worth LSL 35,636,072.33 for the acquisition and deployment of essential end-of-life government data hosting solutions, marking a major step forward in Lesotho's digital transformation.
The project, which is a component of the Lesotho Public Sector Foundations for Service Delivery Project (Project ID: P174171), intends to improve the nation's digital infrastructure by building a thorough business continuity framework for the entire public sector and replacing antiquated government IT systems with energy-efficient hardware.
The contract is financed by the International Development Association (IDA) under credit number IDA-74920 and was awarded through a Request for Bids (RFB) process under reference LS-MOFDP-436388-GO-RFB. On September 26, 2025, the award was formally announced, with a three-year period.
In accordance with the agreement, Mapota Technologies will be in charge of providing cutting-edge data hosting solutions, putting in place safe and energy-efficient infrastructure, and creating a business continuity plan to guarantee government services continue even in the event of system malfunctions or power outages.
With its headquarters in Maseru, Mapota Technologies (NET-TECH Pty Ltd) has made a name for itself as a top regional technology company with a focus on systems integration, networking, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure. With this contract, the business will significantly contribute to Lesotho's goals for modernising digital governance and improving service delivery effectiveness.
Lesotho's efforts to modernise public sector operations, improve data security, and lower energy consumption through sustainable IT solutions have reached a significant milestone with this award. This project puts Lesotho in a position to increase public administration's dependability, efficiency, and transparency as governments throughout Africa transition to digital governance.
Officials anticipate that by modernising the nation's data infrastructure, vital government systems will become more resilient to operational disruptions and cyber threats, ultimately helping citizens by providing services more quickly and reliably.
The World Bank's IDA-funded Lesotho Public Sector Foundations for Service Delivery Project (P174171) aims to strengthen service delivery foundations across ministries by introducing contemporary technology, enhancing fiscal management systems, and increasing institutional capacity.
